I have my certification. Now what?

In most states across the USA, permanent makeup and microblading is licensed as body arts (tattooing). Prior to certification, it’s important that you contact your state and local board of health agencies regarding the rules and regulations for practicing permanent makeup in your area. Some cities/towns will require a number of supervised procedures. Others will require an apprenticeship. Some cities/towns require only Blood Borne Pathogens certification.

Every state and/or locality has its own regulations.

Permanent Makeup Apprenticeship

Students who have successfully graduated from the Valspa Beauty & Aesthetics Program can participate in an apprenticeship program. It can be tailored to meet your individual needs. Under guidance of an Instructor you will be able to build on your strengths and work on your weaknesses. It will help to provide you with confidence and knowledge for your career in permanent cosmetics.

Students are required to complete 12 models within a 12 month period. After successful completions of the program the students will receive a certificate stating that he/she has completed a “One year apprenticeship program” or 200 hour of Apprenticeship. Each student participating in this program will be fully insured for the year.

There are varying regulations in regards to tattooing and some cities ans states may require an apprenticeship in order to abtain licensing. It is in the Students best interest to train under a Master so you can have on-the-job training.

Hands on practice on live Models:

Students may schedule their models to be done at one of our facilities under the instructor’s direct supervision. (12 sessions are included if you have signed up with our Apprenticeship Program). This program is by appointment only and is designed as an addition to our one year apprenticeship program. Individuals who have takes courses outside of Valspa Beauty & Aesthetics and need hands on training for licensure in theirstate or town, refreshing of skills or need practice to be more proficient are welcome to participate after they have attended our Fundamentals Permanent Makeup Course. Please call to enroll.
